Area adult enters his fourth consecutive week of “just one more wash” as the bottle quietly becomes 90% tap water and 10% hope
ANYTOWN: In a bathroom somewhere, a man is shaking a shampoo bottle with the intensity of a bartender who has been told the bar is out of liquor. It makes a sound. Not a thick, creamy sound. A thin, sad, sloshing sound, like a lake that used to be a shampoo.
He pours some into his palm. It runs between his fingers like it’s trying to escape. He lathers anyway. Somehow, a few bubbles appear, and he nods at them like a coach who has just seen his worst player score a point.
