The sun hung high in the sky, relentless and unforgiving. She paused for a moment, trying to recall the last time she had seen another living soul.

The memory was as elusive as the mirage she glimpsed on the horizon—a distant shimmer that offered no comfort, only more questions.

Was it real? Or another trick of the desert, leading her deeper into its embrace?

The ground beneath her feet seemed to shift, whispering secrets that she couldn’t understand.
