The moment everything almost ended
My heart was in my throat. The cabin shook. Someone screamed.
I turned to Ryan, shaking.
“I have to tell you something before we land.”
His face went pale.
“I can’t have children,” I said. Fast. Raw. No soft edges left. “I’ve known for years. I wanted to tell you. I was just terrified you’d leave.”
The silence was unbearable.
“Do you want kids?” he asked quietly.
“Yes,” I whispered. “More than anything.”
“But you can’t.”
