I let him hold Owen longer that day.
I didn’t hover.
I didn’t correct.
I didn’t turn it into a big emotional event that might scare him back into silence.
Later, I asked him if he could feed Owen.
He did it carefully, focused like it was a task with rules.
The next day, I asked again.
Then again.
Soon I trusted them alone together for short stretches.
When I came back, Owen was calm.
