Her Real Reason Was Worse Than I Expected
Lorraine crossed her arms and looked me up and down like I was a bad purchase.
Then she said it.
She wanted a boy.
Not just “would have been nice.”
She meant it like a requirement.
“A family needs a boy to carry on the name,” she said.
And because I gave birth to two girls, she called them useless.
I stood there trying to process the level of cruelty it takes to say that about newborn babies.
Then she started listing what she’d done, like she was proud of her own plan.
- She wrote the note and signed Derek’s name.
- She took his phone so he couldn’t call me.
- She engineered the timing so I’d arrive alone and panic.
- She assumed I’d grab my bags and disappear.
She even bragged that Derek “always takes her side.”
