Mr. Thomas had gotten used to silence.
The house no longer echoed with footsteps, only memories. Days passed slowly, marked by tea, routine, and the quiet hum of the outside world he no longer felt part of.
He told himself he was fine. Until the morning the letter arrived.
No name on the envelope. Just a simple message inside: “Meet us at the old station. Bring nothing but time.”
He almost ignored it. Almost.
The next morning, curiosity carried him to the abandoned train station at the edge of town. He expected nothing. Maybe a mistake. Maybe a joke.
Instead, he found them. A small group of strangers, different ages, different stories, but all waiting.
No one explained much. They just smiled and said, “You came.”
